A blog about all things Colemak

World, meet Colemak

This is a blog about, as you can probably guess from the title, Colemak.

Colemak is a new computer keyboard layout which is more ergonomic than qwerty, much better suited to touch typing and much easier to learn than the Dvorak keyboard layout. It places the most commonly used keys on the home row, which makes for a much more comfortable and disciplined typing experience, and unlike Dvorak, only seventeen of the keys change position — and the most commonly used keyboard shortcuts such as Ctrl-X, Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V are preserved.

If you have any problems with RSI, or if you just want to be able to type as fast as is humanly possible, Colemak is the way to go.

The Colemak layout

It is available for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X, and it is included out of the box in the alpha version of Ubuntu Hardy Heron.
